My Internet Bits | Week Two.

Here we are guys!
We're officially into the first week of Spring!!

Hope everyone's is off to a good start!
(although there were a couple mentions of hail and general coldness in the social bloggers chat today...
hopefully those subside soon!)

I must say, this week I didn't spend a whole lotta time on the webs
as I'm realllly trying to ramp up the quest that is "finding-a-job"...!!

It was awesome that some people commented on my previous (& 1st) "Internet Bits" post :)
I really did have fun putting it all together!
So, I thought I'd do another and see how long I can keep this now two-week old tradition going for ;)

So without further adieu, here's some of my favourites from around the web this week:
Hope you find somethin' new in all of these!! :)

YOUTUBE

One Republic - I Lived
I actually stumbled across this song about a month ago and instantly thought it was amazing - the sound, the lyrics, just how upbeat it is, and motivating even! - but then it kinda got pushed back with all my new songs.
The past couple of days though, I've been really into it again though, liking the whole "inspiring message" it has!

Check it out :)!
(And have a good listen to the lyrics too!!)

PINTEREST
I've always been someone who likes a good graphic tee, but lately I'd noticed I hadn't bought one in quite some time,
so, I turned to Pinterest for some shirt-inspiration, and of course it didn't let me down! :)
(I "liked" a lot of them so if you wanna see some more tees, they're here!)

My Internet Bits | Week One.

So it's been a minute or two ... but I'm here guys!
I haven't posted in a couple weeks, but I've stopped by a couple Twitter chats, so you might've seen me around there in my short blogging-absence :)

---

Don't you ever just wish there was something that could instantly, word-for-word,
translate what you're thinking of at any given moment, onto paper,
just as coherently and with just as much CHUTZPAH
as the first time you thought of it in your head?

Now, before you all say,
"...Oh, well just type out what you want to say then..."

Sometimes, it's just not the same, ya know?!

I mean, I feel like it all makes perfect sense in my head,
but then, when I sit down ready to write it out,
it just doesn't always sound as good...
(Ughh, writer problems. Am I right?)

---

Anyways, moving on, moving on!
I spend a lot of time on the Internet.
YOU TOO?
Aww well, that makes two of us ;)

So, I thought, why not put all that web-surfing to some sort of good use,
and share it with all of you -
My fellow internet-people!

There's so much STUFF floating around on the web,
I thought I'd compile a few things that I've come across
over the past week and put them in a post :)

So, here they are, some of my favourite finds
from different social media sites across the WWW this week:
Hope you find somethin' new you hadn't seen!!

EssieButton's Tiger Haul!
Making me wonder WHY there's no "Tiger-store" in Canada... since Sunday.

PINTEREST
So... I kiiinda went on a spree of looking for watches & mugs.
So. Pretty.

"Why do YOU blog?"

Over the past 2 months, I've found a ton of new blogs
but lately, I've really been trying to branch out in terms of the different types of blogs I search for and read.
Since doing so, I've started to notice just how many different types of blogs AND BLOG WRITERS there are out there!

...Beauty-lovers, fashion-admirers, trend-setters, anecdote-sharers, kitchen-creators, world-travellers, adventure-seekers, daily-recorders, advice-givers, story-tellers...

People are motivated to write & share posts by lots of different things - it might depend on the content they publish or even just what they hope to achieve from blogging down the road.

All you bloggers out there have found a REASON to blog!
Something that made you start, and something that makes you keep going.
If someone asked you, what would you say?

"It's...
Cathartic
An escape
Like a diary
A free hobby
Something I can take with me anywhere
A little space of the internet all to myself
Convenient seeing as I'm on the internet a lot anyways...!"

"It helps me...
improve my writing
improve my photography skills
track my progress - goals, cooking, fitness, school, whatever I want!"

"It's somewhere I can...
give advice
make people laugh
make people think
share my experiences
share what I'm passionate about
find people with similar interests!"

Perhaps it's just somewhere you can write what you want, when you want.
Maybe it's somewhere you can truly express yourself how you'd really like to.

For everyone, I think it's a little different, but it's interesting to find out WHY your favourite bloggers really do blog, and what makes them post what they do.

From an "outsider's" perspective, I can see why it would be interesting to know why so many people do blog.
And from an "insider's" perspective, I can acknowledge each individual person's reason(s) for blogging, and can even understand why some bloggers choose to keep their blogs anonymous. (*high five!*)

Yes, potential readers might care how often you post, and your views might be higher if you post about certain topics, but, I think my point of this entire post is just
to blog if YOU want to blog, and blog about what YOU want to blog about.

If you want to blog, go for it! When that spark's gone though, that's okay too.
Whatever motivates you, keep that in mind.
:)

So,
Why do YOU blog?

Sun, Where Art Thou?

Oh Disneyland 2012... Wetzel's Pretzels anybody?
Maybe it's that today was the third day in a row that it snowed, or that it hasn't gone above 10 degrees in about two weeks,
but I'm so ready for Summer!

Spring would do too at this point to be honest,

BRING ON THAT SUN!! :)

I'll even take those pictures that end up looking like
THIS
(That. Exposure.)
just because I'd know the sun was the culprit.

The snow can be pretty, I mean, think of all the things you can do...
skiing,
snowboarding,
sledding,
snowman-building,
snowball-fighting,
snow-angel making...,
...schoooool caaancelinggg...?

101: Building Your Business Wear Wardrobe! (Photos)

I just graduated from my BCom program in August 2013! (6 months ago now. Doesn't feel like it's been that long... huh, wow!)
Two weeks into the Business program, we were all to attend our first conference - told to stay the whole day, practice our business etiquette, and most important (& most challenging for me at the time):
to dress
PROFESSIONALLY.

Now at that time, being Business students, one might think that we all had our suits bought & ready to go, right? Oh, no no.
After that weekend, I made it a sort-of "mission" of mine to slowly but surely build a more COMPLETE business wear wardrobe than I had started with, so I'd be ready for the rest of that year (& even for work afterwards!)

So, here's a quick run down of the different components you might need to wear for work post-grad,
I hope it helps!!

If you're just starting out, I'd even pick just ONE from each of the following categories,
and you'll have a solid start! :)

"STREET STYLE" Inspiration (Photos)

In a #fbloggers chat a few weeks ago, one of the topics was "Street Style", and even though I'd heard the term before, honestly, I still couldn't QUITE nail down the definition for it.

Before I'd been told what "street style" was, I assumed that my style would be considered "street style" based on how casually I dress...! But, I think street style literally just depends on the person, and what they wear everyday, which means it can vary a ton.

I like casual & comfy, but that being said, I feel like I could have 10 different closets FULL of clothes and still feel like there were more clothes out there that kinda captured my laid back / casual style - there are variations for sure!

There are lots of people I see day-to-day around town whose style I think is so on point and put together, but to avoid taking awkward pictures of people I don't know, I thought I'd mention some more common celebrities (5 in particular) whose street style is pretty similar to mine (or at least what I'd like mine to look somewhat like haha)

OCHO LOCO 2 by Urban Decay.

I received this lovely set of eyeliners from my sister for my birthday last month.
Before I was given this URBAN DECAY OCHO LOCO 2 set, I always used a simple black liner from
Maybelline for my everyday makeup looks. I had tried a brown liner before, but maybe due to the
pencil I chose, the colour just didn't show up very well, so I stuck to my black.

NOW?
My eyes have been OPENED.
